Makeup Ritual
I photographed 20 women in this series to talk about the practice of applying makeup and other beauty products daily. The portrait is a diptych in which the first image is taken where the model has no makeup or hairstyling done. After this, the model would then transition into full hair and makeup to take the second portrait. The images show the difference seen in women who apply just a small amount of makeup; and the before and after effect is seen to a greater degree in women who spend more time on this ritual. The idea of this process being done daily as a ritual is something that most males cannot fathom, but is just a daily occurrence for these women. These images are questioning the audience as to why the women transform into a made up figure everyday and comments on its acceptance in society today.
